Eagles run out of time and drop a close game to Carpathia in MPSL action

By Roman Kuznicki-
STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – Wednesday at Wanda Park White Eagles played their neighbor rivals Carpathia Kickers for the first time this season. Both teams were looking forward to the game and both teams were in a good spirits as they were coming of big wins over the weekend.

The game started at 7 sharp as always. Team were very confident as both teams had full rosters. The first half was mainly in a middle of the field were both teams were feeling each other out with a little bit more possession on the Carpathia side. Both teams had many opportunities to score. Finally, just like two games ago, right before the half time whistle Eagles concede a goal from a corner kick which was a tough blow as the team worked very hard the entire half.

In the second half Eagles started very nervous and because of that there were plenty of individual mistakes in the middle of the field as well as the defensive formation. Luckily for the Eagles, our goalkeeper had a very good day and was able to stop most of the attempts on net that were created by Kickers. In an effort to level the score Eagles opened up in the back by playing with only three defenders which proved costly as Carpathia doubled their lead with 10 minutes to go in the game. The second goal did not stop the Eagles from pushing forward and trying to get a positive result. All the hard work and effort resulted with a beautiful goal scored by Aidan Kuhls in stoppage time. Some might say, the 30+ yard strike could be worth the title of goal of the year in the MPSL as this strike was comparable to goals that we see in the best leagues around the world. As pretty as it was, unfortunately it still counted as only one goal and in the end Eagles fall to Carpathia by the score of 1:2(0:1).

Another opportunity to get three points this Friday when Eagles will play a newly promoted Detroit United at Wanda Park at 7PM.

We need to mention that Friday’s game will be the last game of the season for head coach Goldyn who’s going on vacation. The final game of the season which will be played on Sunday, August 2nd at 4pm the Eagles will be led by assistant coach Jakub Woloszyn.
Thank you and see you all at the next Eagle game.

White Eagle SC gets back on track with a dominant 5:0 win over OYFC Premier

By Roman Kuznicki-
STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – Sunday afternoon at Wanda Park White Eagle SC played an MPSL game against Oakland Yard FC. The game started promptly at 4pm as scheduled. The weather conditions were tough as it was a very hot and humid day in Sterling Heights. The heat and humidity was felt by the spectators and especially by the players who were about to compete for crucial 3 points in the MPSL standings. The weather conditions had some negative impact on the game before it even started, as some players decided not to show up to the game. As a result, the Oakland Yard FC club started the game with only 10 players and never had more than 11, which meant they were not able to make any substitutions. The Eagles, with their tough character and will to win showed up in numbers despite the weather conditions.

The crowd on had was bigger than usual as there was a Polish picnic at the park.

The Eagle Team was at the field almost 45 minutes before the first whistle, warming up for the upcoming game. Many of the players from the opposite team were showing up very late which resulted in OYFC not having a full 11 at the start of the game. As a result, Eagles were dominating possession and creating dangerous scoring changes, but once again had a hard time finding the back of the net. Eagle players were wasting chance after chance and slowly loosing hope for a goal in the first half. The defensive formation of OYFC played an excellent game which contributed to the Eagles not being able to score. They held their own until about the 40th minute, when Eagles’ forward Mike Robell opened the scoring after a beautiful pass from Spencer Steinwascher.

The second half looked totally different from the first whistle. Eagles started to dominate the field of play even more and started to score goal after goal. Second half goals for the Eagles were scored by Aidan Kuhls, Bryce DeLamielleure, Dariusz Nowak and Ryan Ruloff. At that point it became crystal clear that the 3 points can go to only one team.

Great effort by the entire team to show how well organized, strong and balanced of one team they are. The Eagles score 5 goals and every goal was score by a different player that means a lot and it only proves that the managing of the team by both of the coaches only gets better and better. We are stronger as a team and that’s what’s the most important.
To ensure everyone how difficult it was to play in this kind of weather there wasan interesting and very unusual event that occurred after 30 min of play of each half. After a half an hour of play the main referee blow the whistle for a water brake. Last time I saw something like that was during the World Cup in Brazil.

Come out and show your support during Eagles’ next game which is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22 versus a very strong Carpathia team which just won the State Cup last Sunday by defeating a good San Marino team by a score of 3:0.

Missed opportunities cause Eagles to drop a close one against San Marino

By Roman Kuznicki
STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – It was a day that many of the regional soccer fans have been waiting day for. Finally, the two titan teams met for the first time this season at Wanda Park. White Eagle SC squared off against San Marino in a Premier league game. Whenever those two teams meet there are plenty of hard tackles and both team play until the last whistle. This game has a special meaning for both the managers as they both play a huge role in putting their respective teams together.

The game kicked off at 7pm sharp with both teams looking to capitalize early. San Marino started with couple of key players missing, one of them was a former White Eagle, Sam Seppo, who chose to play with San Marino this year. San Marino’s player/manager Nicolino Morana was suspended due to a red card which meant he was not able to play and help his team either. Both teams started the game cautiously trying to get a feel for the opponent and the field. The tempo picked up and the game become more open as time went by.

Most of the attacks to start the game were on the Eagles’ site, however, they were unable to capitalize. Some of it was due to the ineffectiveness of Eagles’ strikers but most were due to an excellent play of San Marion’s goalkeeper, who also plays with Oakland FC of the GLPSL. The teams went back and forth in a very close game. It wasn’t until late in the second half, when a mistake by the Eagles’ defensive formation proved to be costly as Matt Spencer of San Marino took advantage of the mistake and put the ball in the net.

With a great performance and close loss, Eagles are looking forward to bouncing back in their next game on Wednesday July 15. The fans are very optimistic and supportive despite the loss as the performance on the field did not reflect the final score.
